Corbett National Park

Located in the district of Nainital, Corbett National Park is a perfect place for wildlife enthusiasts and the nature lovers. It is a wonderful place in India considered as a hub of excitement and thrill. The park is divided into four different zones named as Bijrani Zone, Dhikala Zone, Jhirna Zone and Durgadevi Zone. Spread over an area of 520 square kilometers, the park is a complete package for wildlife buffs. However, tourism is only allowed in the earmarked areas of the Corbett Tiger Reserve in order to maximize the chances of viewing its splendid landscape and the diverse wildlife living in the park.
Dynamic increase in the tourist visit has been recorded by the park authority. The figure is around 75,000 visitors during the peak season from the different part of the country and abroad.

The Dhikala zone is the largest among the five zones of the Corbett tiger reserve and has a stunning landscape of dense Sal forest, large grassland, narrow valley and various channels of the Ramganga River.
Important: There is no jeep safari available for day visitors. However, one can enjoy the day tour through the Canter safari.

The Bijrani zone is most famous for catching a glimpse of the king of the Corbett forest, the royal Bengal tiger. Tiger sighting is reported often by the safari tourists. Along with the big cats like Bengal tigers and leopards, several types other animals like wild elephants, black bears as well as different types of deer and antelopes namely Chital, Sambar, Hog Deer are found in this zone. Also a perfect place for the birding, there are around 600 species of resident and migratory birds are seen here.

it is one of the most visited zones in the Corbett Reserve forest. Jhirna zone is open for day tourists throughout the year, so the tiger sighting in this zone is reported frequently and also a wide range of wildlife species found in this region. Along with the majestic tigers, the wild bears are the main attraction of this zone.

This zone is also remains open all round the year for tourists. However, the safari tour depends on the weather condition. This zone is well known especially for the vast range of bird species and considered as the best zone for bird watching.

This zone is popular for its highly rich in species of flora and fauna. The streams of Ramganga River and Mandal River enrich the water bodies of this zone and add the beauty to this wild forest. The main attractions of this zone are Otters, primarily found near the Domunda Bridge. The famous fish known as the Mahsheer fish is found in the river streams of this zone.

Sonanadi range is located in Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary which is a part of Corbett National Park. This is developed as a natural habitat of wildlife animals and birds, Sonanadi range is blessed with amazing beauty of flora and fauna. This zone is situated in the north of Sonanadi river and is a favoruite place for Asiatic Elephant along with tiger, cheetal, sambhar, leopard and raptiles. You can found over 550 of birds in their natural habitat.

Best Time to Visit –

The perfect time to visit Corbett National Park is the months of November through June are as the park for safaris remains open to tourists during these months only. The park is kept closed as the monsoon season approaches. The main reason for closure is that the roads inside the park get damaged due to rain. The Authority do the repair work during this period, high flow in the river is the reason for the closer..
